In Refuge (2018)
Three people living as refugees in Brazil. Three different nationalities. Three possible futures. The documentary follows the daily lives of three individuals seeking a better future while living as refugees in Brazil. Talal is an engineer who fled the war in Syria with his family; he is studying engineering again in Brazil to have his degree validated. Carlos is a journalist who left Venezuela after being kidnapped and receiving death threats; in Brazil, he works as a kitchen assistant and still hopes to bring his entire family over. Lara is from Mozambique and intends to become a naturalized Brazilian citizen; she wants to get married and start a family here, far from the troubles of her homeland.
